The EARTH element

I used the FIVE elements ...EARTH, WATER, AIR , FIRE & SKY....as theme... for this series of paintings..
The characteristics of Earth are standing still, being slow and steady, and stationary. Therefore the Earth people don't like to move their body and change their mind too often. They are honest, trustworthy, and responsible. They also have good faith. They can sit in one position for a long time. They accept religion since they like rumination and meditation. They are slow to react. They like to collect things, and enjoy their collectibles at home, but not outdoors.
I have used a purple shade on the face  as it depicts solidity......I made the eyes very dark and choose not the show the pupils....as  I did not want to show any expressions as this element doesn't respond to  change very often...The flowers around the face show the fertility factor.
Under the roots of the sacred tree
deep in the Earth it lays
Follow the stairs that will lead you there
down to the land of blue roses.

Follow the path into the darkness,
deep in the Earth you go,
Climb down the stairs if you have no fear,
down to the land of blue roses.
Emerge in the light inside the land,
deep in the Earth you'll find,
A lush meadow of magic wonders
down in the land of blue roses.

The Meeting Place

Inspired by Poet Jalaluddin Rumi's poem....The Meeting Place....
I used A Full Sky as the background.....to show the vastness of space.....and the birds depict the Souls....
This poem was used in the end of the film..."ROCKSTAR"

Beyond our ideas of right-doing and wrong-doing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase ‘each other’
doesn’t make sense any more.
Jelaluddin Rumi
The poet dreams of a place.... a field,
where souls can meet and encounter each other as they really are, beyond moral evaluation or other forms of category.
“Beyond our ideas of right-doing and wrong-doing, there is a field.  I’ll meet you there.”
In this field, this meeting place, ideas, language, even the sense that we are completely separate human beings, ”each other,” ... make less sense.
There has been a meeting of souls, and in the process, each has become more human....

Sky-Gazing-Sky

Sometimes, I feel that we do not know how much nature has been giving to us. We are sheer mad towards the earthly pleasure. We forget that there is energy flowing... all around us.
Yes, it is very true. Just it’s a question of opening our eyes.
Once our eyes are opened, we can feel, experience utter joy of nature. Sheer bliss of God. This is possible only by looking at the sky.
Do believe it. Because it is true. Those who have been practicing this ....have gained immense from the nature.
This Painting is an experience...while "SKY-GAZING'  I actually noticed....the Sky....Gazing back at me!!!!

Sweet Tweets... .

This beautiful expression  of my winged friends makes many to wonder about their Gender. Normally I should have used the original brown shade for the birds ....as  I have hardly seen any birds of this Cerulean Blue. shade.....but I wanted them to attract maximum attention....so I went ahead and gave them a bright makeover.  I have given extra texture for the feathers  and the leaves..using palette knife...on oil paints. The background has a soft Matt finish.

When I completed this painting...I remembered this lovely poem of Robert frost...Thought ..I should share it with all...as it is apt in today's life as well.
A Minor Bird By - Robert Frost.
I have wished a bird would fly away,
 And not sing by my house all day;
Have clapped my hands at him from the door
When it seemed as if I could bear no more.
The fault must partly have been in me.
The bird was not to blame for his key.
And of course there must be something wrong
... In wanting to silence any song.

Analysis: The poem is all about a bird.but the message conveyed through it is so massive.....The bird symbolises nature , happiness.   The poet conveys that a person who hates nature is a disturbed person. He does not have self satisfaction at all. In the latter part of the poem the poet  says that he understands.... that he did something wrong....This shows the real  human nature. People many times do  things,..... and finally realize that it is wrong. But by then they might be so late.

Hypnotic glare....

This painting is a celebration of that hypnotic glare.... which i have been missing. For years...i have missed being in the wild...the hypnotic glare of the cats...I remember long waiting on the "machaan" ...We would sit for hours watching a patch of grass, convinced that it harboured a spotted cat, or drive endlessly to have a glimps....and get hypnotised.!!!

A figment in my mind......

The search for perfection, We will never find,...... It's only a figment......,In our mind, This is the truth,......We must all realise, Until we reach inner realms, Where pure love and truth abide, So seek not dear traveller.......,Through time and space,... . Accept what has been given,.....With good grace..... ,For life is a cycle of re-birth,....Only hope exists, ..... In our lives on earth!!! ....... .... ....... Made this simple textured painting with acrylics on paper.... It is an expression of our minds ....hunt for perfection....its a symbolic representation.... Of our minds constant restlessness.... It also explains that ....in spite of having wings.... one should try to be closer....to the ground and be contented with what is given to us.....!!!!
